New Waves presents Let’s Get Entrepreneurial: A Business Intensive for Filmmakers
Being a working filmmaker isn’t all fun and cameras—there are also business considerations including incorporation, sustainability, business planning operations, marketing, and taxes!
If you’re an emerging or mid-career filmmaker who wants to own a production company but has no idea where to start, or if you’d like to grow your current company, New Waves is the program for you. Featuring a masterclass weekend in Halifax (February 6+7, 2027), one-on-one business consultations, and culminating with a cohort trip to Making Waves conference (April 9+10), our Let’s Get Entrepreneurial program is the perfect fit for Q127!
Eligibility:
Applicants must be full WIFT-AT members, women or gender-diverse filmmakers, and live in Atlantic Canada. You must have some experience in the industry, be emerging or in mid-career, and starting up a company for the first time or ready to advance your current company.
Cost:
The program is free to participate if you are selected. On a case by case basis, accommodation and travel will be provided to participants from outside Halifax.
