In its fifth year, WIFT-AT’s Mentorship Match program supports aspiring women and gender-diverse filmmakers fostering skills in acting, directing, producing, screenwriting, programming and editing.
Halifax, NS (October XX, 2024) – WIFT-Atlantic (WIFT-AT) announces its official 2025 mentorship match pairings. Supported by Telefilm Canada, WIFT-Atlantic’s Mentor Match program provides members with access to mentorship by hand-picked industry professionals. Selected applicants improve their professional skills and industry knowledge through a minimum of four one-on-one sessions over an 8-month period, and are also given opportunities to network amongst themselves and with other mentors via mixer events.
“The mentorship match program is five-years standing strong,” says WIFT-AT Executive, Jan Miller. “We are thrilled to announce this fresh crop of talent who will be paired with outstanding professionals in the industry. Women and gender diverse filmmakers supporting the next generation of women and gender diverse creatives is an integral part of what WIFT-AT stands for. We are honoured to offer this program for a fifth year running to the Atlantic region..”
Some of this years WIFT-AT Mentorship Match cohort are:
World-touring musician, broadcast professional and emerging screenwriter Stephanie Beaumont will be mentored by television executive producer Sherry White (Pretty Hard Cases, Orphan Black);
writer, director and producer Carlee Calver (Bell Fibe’s Skin and Bone) will be mentored by filmmaker and educator Arianna Martinez (Do I Know You From Somewhere?);
Video editor and digital storyteller Halley Roback (Brunswick St.)will be mentored by Megan Wennberg (Drag Kids, Unsynchable);
Artist, producer and director Amy Stewart will be mentored by Canadian Screen Award nominee Heyishi Zhang (Gay Mean Girls), and;
Filmmaker and NSCAD graduate Esly Tan (The Institute) will be mentored by award-winning editor Amy Mielke (Little Grey Bubbles).
