Congratulations to PSAAPA winner Brittney Gavin!

WIFT-AT received a record number of applications for the Pamela Segger All Access Pass Award this year, making our decision incredibly difficult—each applicant was well-rounded, well-supported, and well-suited to the award.
The winner was chosen based on her track record, which features two award-winning documentaries she co-wrote, -directed, and -produced; and her development slate, which includes a new doc, a narrative short, and a television comedy series. Because of her body of work, community impact, and position to make projects happen, we’re delighted to present this year’s Pamela Segger All Access Pass Award to Brittney Gavin.
Brittney Gavin is a Nova Scotian filmmaker living in Halifax with experience working on documentaries, narrative films, corporate videos and commercials. Prior to entering the film industry, Brittney worked as a Health Promotion Facilitator throughout Nova Scotia and Alberta. Her previous role focused on addressing the root causes of health inequities and improving population health outcomes. Brittney hopes to bring her passion for enacting social change to all her projects. Brittney began in the film industry as an editor, but has since branched out to produce and direct her own films. In 2022, Brittney started A + B Roll Films with Amy Mielke with the mission of advancing the perspectives of equity-seeking groups through the stories we tell. In 2024, they won the WIFT-AT Best Director Award at the Screen Nova Scotia Awards.
Brittney will receive $2,500 in travel support from WIFT-AT and full festival passes to the Atlantic International Film Festival, Lunenburg Doc Fest, Charlottetown Film Festival, St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival, and Silver Wave Film Festival.
