The International Women In Digital Media Summit (iWDMS)

BannerWIFTfinal The International Women In Digital Media Summit (iWDMS)Women In Film & Television-Toronto has commissioned Nordicity and Environics to conduct a research study on employment trends in Canada’s screen-based industries –film & television production, film & television distribution, broadcasting and digital media.

At the iWDMS, WIFT-T will present highlights from their national industry research study on employment trends in Canadian screen-based media. Currently underway, the study is designed to collect quantitative and qualitative information from all areas of the industry — including film, television and digital media — and focus on the findings will feature industry experts weighing in on recommendations for policy and program development.

Featuring a mix of national and international programming, including a keynote by Arianna Huffington, known for launching “The Huffington Post”, the news and blog site that has become one of the most widely-read, linked-to and cited media brands on the Internet. iWDMS will bring together traditional and digital media communities, as well as academic/research institutions, to explore innovation, skills gaps, policy and research in the content areas of gaming, mobile, social media and transmedia.

Topics of discussion will include content creation, applications for emerging technologies and business models, and the evolving role of women in digital media industries.

It is the hope that this study will help decision-makers understand employment trends and assist in the development of programs and policies that are beneficial to professionals within the screen-based sector.

The International Women in Digital Media Summit (iWDMS) will take place October 23 – 25 2011 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. An online community will allow delegates to connect prior to and after the Summit for continued collaboration and mentorship. Registration opens July 5, 2011. WIFT members worldwide receive a preferred rate.
