New Brunswick News Summer 2011

LATEST ON NBFILM STATUS

A committee [of members of Media NB, other producers in New Brunswick and specific people within government] has met three times and the next meeting is scheduled for the 12th of July. There is some progress being made in that we are still in business. The government is working with us to have an interim plan that answers the needs of NB producers in the immediate future. There are funds available for new productions that answer the normal requirements for any NB productions. Details are being worked on and a date for an official announcement with the final details that is yet to be announced. It is overall good news for the producers but there is much work to be done as yet.

BIG NEWS FROM MONCTON BASED PHARE EST

The NB French television series Belle-Baie has won the 2011 Prix Acadie-Quebec award from the Standing Committee of Dialogue between Acadie and Quebec. Congratulations to Phare Est who produces this series annually.

JOURNALIST, EDUCATOR AND FILMMAKER CHRISTINE LEBLANC gave two well attended and successful workshops on Documentary Filmmaking through the NB Film Coop. Christine is Director of Membership on the Board of WIFT-AT.
