WIFT-AT brings valued training programs, events and workshops to our members.
With the help of many hands, minds and bodies we have been able to keep an active front throughout the Atlantic region.
Women Making Waves Conference
Our annual conference made its splash debut in March 2011. Read Board Chair Jan Miller’s review of the first WIFT-Atlantic conference, and check out our stellar lineup of panelists, workshops and events.
Talks with filmmakers
Whether at our Annual General Meeting, or at special WIFT-AT events, we invite filmmakers to talk about their experience as filmmakers, as well as what’s new in the industry. Always inspirational. Guests have included Patricia Rozema, Ingrid Veninger, Andrea Dorfman, Sherry White, Jennice Ripley to name a few.
- Reel Talk: Conversations with Women in Film and Television

Held in the screening room on the top floor of The Khyber in downtown Halifax – you can have a beer or pop & some popcorn and sit in on a one-on-one conversation with some fascinating women who work & make art in film and television. Check our Reel Talk Events page for more info on the next guest at Reel Talk.Reel Talk – happens at 7:00 p.m. on the last Friday of every month (except July & August). WIFT-AT members are FREE, non-WIFT-AT members $6. The Khyber, 1588 Barrington Street, Halifax, NS.
Screenings
We have partnered with the First Weekend Club or with the St. John’s International Women’s film festival to bring in extraordinary films by women. Oscar-Winner™ Brigitte Berman’s film Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist, and Rebel and Alison Reid’s feature film The Baby Formula traveled to Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
In Halifax, there are regular evenings of social networking/film screening, at The Company House.
Networking Events
At film festivals in the 4 provinces, the general meeting, Women Making Waves conference, our events provide a perfect opportunity for folks to mingle, network and enjoy the company of fellow filmmakers, or just relax and talk about what you have seen or intend to see.
